Privacy Policy

The Morning App ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS application.

Information We Collect

We collect only what we need to give you a great morning experience:

• Buddies account (optional): If you use the Buddies feature, you sign in with Apple. We receive only an anonymous Apple identifier — never your name, email address, or any contact details. The rest of the app requires no account at all.
• Feedback you send (optional): If you choose to send us feedback from within the app, we receive your message, the email address you optionally provide, and basic technical details (app version, device model, iOS version, language, and whether you have a subscription) so we can act on it.
• Journal entries: Dream journal, gratitude entries, and any text you write within the app. These are stored on-device by default.
• Preferences: Your routine settings, card selections, wake-up vibe, and app configuration.

The Buddies Feature

Buddies lets you pair with people you invite and exchange emoji during your mornings. It is entirely optional. When you use it, we store the following on our servers:

• An anonymous identifier from Sign in with Apple — no name, email address, or phone number.
• Emoji activity: the single-emoji statuses and reactions you and your buddies exchange, with timestamps.
• Buddy nicknames: the names you give your buddies. These are visible only to you — your buddy never sees what you call them, and no public profile or display name exists.
• Device information: a push notification token (so reactions can reach you) and your timezone.

Invite links are single-use and expire after 30 days. Removing a buddy immediately disconnects both sides. You can delete your Buddies account from within the app at any time — this permanently removes everything above from our servers and revokes the Sign in with Apple connection.

Feedback

When you tap through to leave feedback, what you write is stored on our servers so we can read and act on it. It is not linked to your Buddies account, your journals, or anything in your iCloud data — sending feedback requires no account at all.

• Your message, exactly as you typed it.
• An email address, only if you choose to give one. It is used to reply to you and nothing else — never added to a mailing list.
• An anonymous identifier generated on your device, used only to limit how much feedback a single device can send. It is not an account, it is never used to look anything up, and it disappears when you delete the app.
• Basic technical details — app version, device model, iOS version, language, subscription status, and how many mornings you have recorded — so a report is actionable without a conversation.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide and improve The Morning App. Specifically:

• To deliver your personalized morning routine.
• To sync your journals and routine data through your private iCloud account when iCloud is available.
• To deliver Buddies notifications — the emoji reactions and morning check-ins exchanged between you and the people you have invited.
• To respond to your support requests, and to read and act on feedback you send from within the app.

What We Don't Do

We want to be crystal clear about what we will never do:

• We will never sell your personal data to third parties.
• We will never use the content of your journals for advertising or profiling.
• We will never share your data with advertisers.
• We do not serve ads within the app.

Data Storage & Security

Your journal entries and personal content are stored locally on your device and sync through your personal iCloud account when iCloud is available — we never have access to them. Buddies data and any feedback you send (both described above) are stored on our own servers, encrypted in transit and at rest. All data is protected using industry-standard encryption.

Your Rights

You have full control over your data:

• Export: You can export all of your data (journals, settings, everything) at any time from the Profile menu.
• Delete: You can permanently delete all of your data from within the app, including your Buddies account and everything stored on our servers. Once deleted, it cannot be recovered.
• Access: You can request a copy of all data we hold about you by contacting us.
• Feedback: Because feedback carries no account, we have no way to look yours up unless you included an email address. If you did, contact us and we will delete it.

Children's Privacy

The Morning App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
